The Joint Transportation Research Program (JTRP) facilitates collaboration between the Indiana Department of Transportation, higher education institutions and industry to implement innovations that result in continuous improvement in the planning, design, construction, operation, management and economic efficiency of the Indiana transportation infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will develop, test, and document software and database systems that support transportation engineering research and implementation. The scope of the research includes, but is not limited to software and data relating to traffic management and traffic signals and control devices, highway and interstate mobility, asset tracking, connected and autonomous vehicles, electric vehicles, internet-of-things (IoT), communications infrastructure, artificial intelligence, machine learning, weather, and smart cities. The software systems developed will enable new technologies and methods to be adopted effectively and efficiently to increase the impact of ongoing and future research. Some field work is required for instruments, sensors and equipment setup to facilitate data collection.
