Job Title: General Manager - School of Rock Arcadia
Reports To: Director of Operations/Franchise Owner
School of Rock is the original performance-based, interactive music school founded in 1998 in Philadelphia. With 350+ schools, and a strong internationally recognized brand, School of Rock is the largest after-school music education provider. Our mission is to help music enthusiasts pursue their love of all things Rock N’ Roll.
The General Manager (GM) runs the show, from AC/DC to Zappa, creating a safe and cool environment for students to achieve their musical and creative potential. We want as many students as possible to have the opportunity to experience the magic of School of Rock. Our GMs bring that commitment to life, working with every part of the school’s community to put on epic live shows through which our students learn music and life skills. The GM is the leader of the band, serving as the primary owner of the relationship with our students and parents.
This job is for the School of Rock - Arcadia location on Indian School Road in Phoenix. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for monthly profit-sharing bonuses and health/dental stipends.
Roles and Responsibilities:
● Provide an exceptional music education experience for students, creating strong engagement with each student and maximizing student enrollment.
● Passionate about music and creating a welcoming, lively school vibe for youth and adult students.
● Be a leader within the school, providing guidance, feedback and inspiration to students and staff.
● Provide top quality customer service, including billing, schedule management and communication.
● Collaborate with Music Director (MD) and Asst. Music Directors to help them deliver an excellent music education program, including the recruitment of music teachers and booking iconic music venues.
● Oversee successful show production and management, providing inspirational performance opportunities.
● Deliver results through management of educational KPIs and discipline around business KPIs.
● Manage the marketing, sales, and promotions to drive school and student success.
● Manage staff and school facilities to provide a safe, cool, and appropriate experience for all students.
● Financial management of the school including analyzing results, tracking budgets, and managing labor costs
● Adheres to the SOR Code of Conduct, safety policies, including the Monitoring and Supervision policy.
Skill Requirements/Preferences:
● 3+ years of experience in marketing, sales, and/or customer service environment
● An outgoing personality with excellent customer service and relationship building skills.
● Experience recruiting and managing staff; extensive relationships in the local music scene is a big plus.
● Excellent communication skills (phone conversations, face-to-face interactions, email correspondences)
● Proven problem-solving skills - ability to calmly pivot when needed, resolve issues professionally.
● Collaborator who works well across diverse population of students and staff
● Strong work ethic, integrity, and leadership skills
● Detailed oriented with strong organizational skills
● Experience and interest in working with children.
