Overview:
The Epic Training Specialist II is responsible for the training and support of all clinical and administrative team members. The Epic Training Specialist II will create training documentation and curriculum; perform technical training for new hires and ongoing user training during system changes/upgrades; participate in quality assurance testing to ensure end user requirements are met with a focus on efficient clinic workflow. The Epic Training Specialist II will also perform other duties as assigned.
This position is considered Hybrid, which means that individuals in this position may work both at an approved Offsite location and Onsite at a primary location or multiple locations based on Business Needs.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties (at least 5 that are non-negotiable duties and are absolutely pertinent to successfully completing the job without accommodations):
- Utilize standardized department tools/software systems to plan tasks/projects and monitor progress toward milestones and deadlines, reassigning resources when necessary to meet organizational objectives.
- Maintain a working knowledge of key indicators, standards, and processes related to EHR systems.
- Master both the respective Epic modules and the relevant operational workflows.
- Build, test and maintain the training environment.
- Ensure all classroom training and training materials adhere to current policies, procedures and workflows.
- Lead training efforts stemming from software upgrades and updates.
- Able to travel between all Central Health clinics as needed.
- Act as a Principal Trainer for Epic EHR, and is responsible for developing and maintaining course curriculum, training materials and training the trainer.
- Coordinate closely with Epic Application Analysts in order to develop proper training in consideration of all end users’ roles to ensure effective training in advance of software updates and new version releases.
- Work collaboratively to create and continuously update training materials and learning resources for various training needs
- Provide hands on support to system end users with learned application knowledge and document project issues.
- Participate in testing and workflow validation of all new systems and modifications before implementation into the production environment.
- Maintain customer service orientation toward internal EHR stakeholders and responsiveness to requests and assigned tasks.
- Conduct both group and individual training sessions with end users as needed.
- Conduct training in person and virtually.
- Provide technical support via phone, online, and/or in person.
- Serve as a primary resource to the EHR super- users in ticket resolution.
- Will closely collaborate with the Analyst team on upcoming changes/upgrades in the EHR system.
- Assist with coordinating clinical/administrative requests for EHR system modification and act as a liaison between the end user and information technology to optimize tools and workflows in the EHR application.
- Coordinates system changes with the governance team for decision making.
- Provides check in with site's clinical and administrative staff through at the elbow support to assess end user fluency and satisfaction.
- Provides technical system guidance to improve and streamline operational workflows.
- Conducts periodic observations of end users in their environment to identify areas for improvement and suggestions for workflow redesign.
- Reviews all system notifications and updates, and documents potential changes to workflows.
- Servers as a mentor for the Epic Training Specialist I.

- Infrequent after-hours work may be required based on business need.
- Experience with adult education and instructional design
Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION: High school diploma/GED
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in a related field
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 3 years of experience in computer-related training, adult education, as an EHR super user, or similar role
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- 3 years of experience as a super user/support role using an EHR
- Any experience implementing or supporting an EHR, specifically including any prior experience with Epic EHR
- Any experience with adult education and instructional design
- Any experience working in a clinical environment including facility or office-based settings
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:
Any Epic certifications
