Outside Sales Representative
Mission: The Outside Sales Representative sells and obtains orders for the company's products from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-based approach, effective management of a designated sales territory, and physical visits to customer locations. This job position requires extensive travel.
Job Duties:
- The Outside Sales Representative customarily and regularly works more than half of his/her working time away from the company's place of business promoting, selling, and securing orders for, the company's products from existing and potential customers by engaging in the following duties:
- Demonstrates products to, and services and obtains product orders from, existing and potential customers while assisting them to select those products best suited to their needs.
- Prepares and submits orders in accordance with company price lists, company procedures and product literature. o Establishes new accounts for new customers.
- Plans and organizes daily work schedule to call on existing or potential customers. o Calls on existing and prospective customers primarily through making in-person visits and presentations, but also through phone calls.
- Follows up with customers to ensure that the customers are satisfied; contacts customers regarding other products customers may be interested in buying.
- Maintains close contact with customers after sales have been made to resolve issues and answer relevant questions in order to promote an optimistic environment, positive experience with the customers.
- Provides price information and quotes to customers in accordance with company guidelines. •
Liaises between the company and customers for up-to-date pricing, assistance and latest product launches.
- Continuously updates all customers on product modifications, changes, and improvements.
- Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports.
- Monitors competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, etc.
- Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions; preparing reports; making recommendations to management.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Maintains records on area and customer sales for historical information purposes.
- Participates in trade shows and conventions.
- Maintains professionalism, diplomacy, understanding, and courtesy to represent the organization in a good reputation.
- Accurately tracks expenses and timely submits reimbursement requests according to company guidelines.

Education and/or Experience
College or university degree in business or marketing; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
