Registered Nurse Job Description
Northern Illinois Recovery Center, an established behavioral health provider, is seeking a Full-time Night Shift Registered Nurse to implement nursing care to patients requiring treatment for substance use disorders. This integrated, 16-bed facility provides evidence-based and comprehensive medical, withdrawal management, and professional clinical services in a soothing and natural environment. This position will report directly to the Director Of Nursing.
Duties And Responsibilities:
1. Oversees all aspects of the patient admission and assessment process
2. Conducts initial health screenings and assessment of client’s needs
3. Charts vital signs, treatments performed, appropriate screening instruments(COWS/CIWA/Columbia Scale), and medication administers
4. Assesses patient and makes observations, reporting pertinent information to appropriate staff
5. Effectively communicates with physicians, nurse practitioners, and pharmacists
6. Executes prescribed treatment and medical intervention
7. Maintains knowledge of necessary documentation requirements
8. Provides patient/family/caregiver educational needs
9. Initiates emergency support measures when required
10. Maintains patient care supplies, unit equipment, and program environment
11. Administers and notes reactions to MAT, psychotropic, and other medications
12. Attends regularly scheduled nursing staff meetings
13. Maintains and demonstrates a current working knowledge of applicable clinical procedures and nursing care based on the company policy and State and Federal guidelines
14. Maintains patient confidentiality and understanding of HIPAA
15. Other duties assigned by Director Of Nursing
Qualifications:
BSN in nursing, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
IV skills desirable
Experience in a detox/recovery setting or behavioral healthcare/addiction services preferred
Knowledge of detoxification process and addiction disorders
Current BLS certification
Able to read, analyze, and interpret policies and follow directions effectively, both written and orally
Ability to care for chemically dependent individuals non-judgmentally, with care and compassion
Ability to work twelve-hour shifts with rotating weekends required.
Physical Demands/ Work Environment:
This position operates in a low to moderate noise environment, utilizing standard medical and office equipment. The employee may, on occasion, have to lift or move objects up to 25 pounds.
Minimal local travel in between offices (less than 5 miles), if needed
