SALARY RANGE: $85,000.00-$95,000.00
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess School Nurse Certification in New Jersey. (Required)
- Registered nurse (RN) license and Bachelor’s Degree. (Required)
- School Nurse experience. (Required)
- RN experience in acute and/or urgent care settings. (Preferred)
- Excellence in communication and organization skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, families, staff and community with diverse backgrounds.
Duties:
- Prepares a health profile and a care plan for each student and disseminates the profile and plan to those staff who have direct contact with the student.
- Consults with student’s individual physician as needed and is responsible for relaying to parent’s follow-up care needs.
- Follows emergency procedures in case of accidents and serious illness of students and staff.
- Contacts parents of absent students daily. If absent for three consecutive days or more, reminds parents to secure a doctor’s note and doctor’s re-admission orders.
- Recommends exclusion of sick student and subsequent re-admission in accordance with School policy.
- Provides direct care and supervision of student during time of illness.
- Contacts parents for student’s post-surgical status and to discuss student’s progress.
- Makes daily morning visits to each classroom to inquire about any issues the students may present on that day and/or receives information from parent on any issues that occurred during the night submitted to teachers.
- Administers and dispenses medications to students as prescribed by physician.
- Gathers and maintains accurate, clear records of the health of students and interprets relevant data.
- Participates in student evaluation meeting as it pertains to ongoing medical needs. Participates in pre-IEP meetings and assumes responsibility for carrying out health care goals.
- Arranges and carries out the program for visiting student nurses.
- Assumes responsibility for anticipating supplies needed for nursing service and is responsible for keeping equipment and supplies in working condition.
- Performs such other student related or programmatic tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as assigned by Principal.
