Senior Mechanic
Job Summary: The senior mechanic is responsible and fully capable of overhauling vehicle systems. Perform regular and non-routine mechanical services to NCR vehicles and equipment. Supports compliance with local, state, federal and company vehicle and equipment maintenance safety policies and regulations.
Essential Functions:
- Work closely with Dispatchers on projects and day-to-day work assignments.
- Remove and replace engine including complete overhaul.
- Remove, replace, overhaul or repair transmissions, brakes, axels and other major and minor truck parts to ensure trucks operate safely and in good condition throughout the life of the vehicle.
- Complete phase or monthly truck inspections and perform scheduled maintenance, tune-ups, and troubleshooting as needed and according to the manufacturer’s requirements.
- Perform truck frame repairs, which include the use of acetylene welding and painting.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area. Repair air break operations.
- Review and confirm outside vendor repair orders.
- Identify and report any abuse of company assets.
- Perform other duties and tasks as instructed and assigned

Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or General Education Development certificate (GED). Five years of experience in professional automotive maintenance and repair with a minimum of three years of experience in the repair and maintenance of commercial trucks or equivalent certified training/education.
Skills and Abilities: Ability to read, analyze and interpret detailed documents such as operating and maintenance instructions or procedural manuals. Perform routine task oriented duties from verbal and written mechanical guidelines. Experience using automotive diagnostic equipment. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions. Acetylene welding experience. Experience with local, state, and federal commercial vehicle and equipment maintenance and safety regulations compliance. Possesses DOT medical card and airbrake certification
