Transportation (70%)

Transport and deliver cargo to businesses locally and/or out of state in varying weather conditions
- Plan route to meet delivery schedules

Maneuver truck into loading or unloading positions

Transport equipment to vendors for repair and service

Complete dispatches according to schedule to ensure on time delivery

Load and unload cargo with pallet jack, as needed
Inspection and Safety (20%)

Secure loads according to DOT regulation
-
Inspect vehicle Pre-Trip/Post-Trip for mechanical and safety issues
- Comply with federal and state rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, and break periods)
- Report defects, accidents, or DOT violations to manager or freight coordinator as appropriate

Maintain records of vehicle inspections and ensure truck is equipped with required safety equipment
Documentation and Compliance (10%)

Document and log work/rest periods and miles driven using computerized fleet management system to comply with DOT regulations

Retain fuel/toll receipts and bills of lading (BOLs) and deliver to Accounting, weekly

Make log entries in electronic logging device (ELD) for each stage of the loading and unloading process to comply with governmental FMCSA regulations concerning duty status
Qualifications:
- 2 years’ full-time tractor-trailer driving experience,
- Valid Class A commercial driver’s license
- Hands-on experience with electronic equipment and software commonly used in CDL driver positions, such as GPS, AVL units, and CB
