Unless otherwise required by an applicable collective bargaining agreement, all minimum, additional and desired qualifications are preferred, but qualifications, degrees, and/or experience deemed comparable and/or equivalent by Oakland University in its sole and exclusive discretion may be considered.
Position Purpose
Reporting directly to the SECS Director of Outreach, Recruitment and Retention, and the SECS Dean, this position provides strategic support for the recruitment and retention of STEM students from primarily but not exclusively community colleges particularly with challenged populations. Responsible for the design and implementation of services designed to improve student success, retention and graduation rates, and to meet deliverables to funding agencies. Provide leadership on the strategic direction, management and policy issues related to recruitment and retention of STEM students in challenged populations, and to take lessons learned to other challenged populations such as international students, women in STEM and to the general STEM student population for a broader impact. Maintain and develop processes for effective supervision of student participants and other personnel, including compliance with all University policies. Research and implement current and emerging best practices and technologies in delivering STEM outreach to K-12 and community colleges (both funding agency requirements), and in the retention of students in 4-year institutions of higher learning, particularly with challenging backgrounds. Assist in developing and recommending assessment tools to determine the success of program goals and outcomes.
