POSITION SUMMARY
The Cost Accountant’s primary role is to assist the Cost Accounting Manager in ensuring that the cost accounting function complies with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and other reporting requirements while providing management with cost information to drive strategic and operational business decisions. This position contributes to the successful and timely month-end and year-end closings, report development, and analysis of departmental spending and ensures that policies reflect those outlined in the Accounting Manual prepared by the Parent Company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Engineering Change Notices (ECN)/System Change Requests (SCR):
- Review released change notices/requests
- Communicates with other departments to understand the impact of changes
- Provides analysis of significant changes to the Cost Accounting Manager
- Reviews master data to ensure accounting fields are set-up properly
- Backup to the Accountant that releases Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and System Change Requests (SCRs)

Cost Accounting:
- Prepares monthly production performance reports to supplement month-end analysis
- Reconciles production & cost variances
- Assists with the annual budget process and quarterly forecasts as needed
- Prepares material add-on/surcharge calculations and conversion costs
- Maintains and updates material add-on/surcharges on new BOMs
- Prepares product cost simulations
- Develops and maintains a master listing of where-used for raw materials
- Assist with quarterly product cost tracking presentation
Production Department Spending:
- Assists with analysis of monthly departmental spending
- Works directly with department managers to develop forecasts and budget
Inventory Functions:
- Reviews and validates inventory reconciliations
- Monitoring and communicating the progress of scrap
- Monitoring and communicating progress of cycle counting
Fixed Asset Management:
- Coordinates, analyzes, and presents the capital expenditure budget
- Prepares spending reports with accompanying analysis to management
- Assists with annual asset inventory
Special Projects:
- Performs special projects as assigned, including accounting and financial analysis for strategic corporate initiatives
Safety:
- Performs all job functions is a safe manner and maintains safety awareness
- Reports all known accidents, injuries, and unsafe practices and/or conditions to the supervisor
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND EXPERTISE:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required.
- A minimum of 3 year of experience in a comparable accounting role.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles.
- Proficient computer skills including Excel, PowerPoint, Word

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to use a keyboard, calculator, and telephone. Frequent sitting, talking, hearing, and occasionally stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift (10 lbs.), and an ability to adjust vision for close vision work.
