ROLE: Brand Home Customer Service Retail Associate
LOCATION: Angel’s Envy Distillery, Louisville, KY

This is a customer facing position 100% of the time. They are also responsible for assisting customers with choices, consultative selling, Point of Sale duties, and maintaining common and public work areas.
The Associate will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and valuable experience in the Bourbon, Tourism and Retail Business.

Louisville Distilling Company was founded by father and son, Lincoln and Wes Henderson. Their first whiskey, Angel’s Envy Kentucky Straight Bourbon Finished in Port Barrels was inspired by Master Distiller Lincoln Henderson’s lifetime spent crafting some of the world’s finest spirits. RESPONSIBILITIES - WITH OUR CONSUMER AT THE HEART YOUR KEY FOCUS WILL BE
The Visitor Center Retail Associate is key in the success of the retail goals and guest experience. They are also responsible for assisting customers locate items and provide information about the product offered. The right candidate needs to have a strong understanding of hospitality and how to execute a positive interaction. A Retail Associates will also ensure that all areas of the Visitor Center are kept clean and products on the shelves always stocked. Candidates must be able to work in a team setting, be responsible for credit card transaction through Point of Sale. General understanding of distilled spirits is desired, but not a must. Due to the nature of this role, the right candidate will display a professional and friendly demeanor at all times.
Retail Floor - Greeter
- Greet guest that arrive in the visitor center in a warm hospitable manner. Engagement with visitors is critical and we want people to feel welcome from moment they walk in the door to the time the leave.
- Candidates must be able to give in depth information about our spirits and have the ability to hold friendly conversations. Product knowledge is critical and required on the sales floor.
- The right candidate will be able to assist visitors during the shopping experience and offer insight about cocktail idea and suggestively up sell to drive profit in the visitor center.
Point of Sale-Check in Desk
- While working the POS desk, candidate must be able to multitask. This includes handling multiple transactions, and operating the bottle engraving kiosk from time to time.
- Candidate must have the basic understanding of simple math and can handle credit card transactions unsupervised.
- The Visitor Center Retail Associate will be responsible for completing the sales transactions in an accurate and timely fashion. All merchandise and spirits must be accounted for and sold through the Anchor point of sale program.
- Candidate must be able to handle face to face interactions with guest on any level. This include guests that are unhappy.
Candidate must also communicate to the Manager on Duty any issues that occur in the Visitor Center.
Other Daily Duties
- Light cleaning/up keep in guest areas throughout the day. The areas of priority are making sure tasting rooms are always clean and tidy, maintain bathrooms and paper goods in lavatories, common areas are always free from any garbage.
- Stocking goods on the retail shelves and front/ facing product so that items always look best for the consumer.
- Complete inventory/security logs as needed throughout the day.
- Communicate to the Manager on Duty and unusual findings regarding inventory, guest behavior or appearance issues in guest areas.
- Greet guests in a hospitable manner, create a welcoming memory for guests and be able to handle face-to-face interactions with guests on any level, including VIPs, partners and important stakeholders.
- · Give in-depth information about our products and have the ability to hold friendly conversations. Provide educated and accurate information about our bourbons, production, brand history, cocktails and other offerings.
- Offer suggestions for retail items & cocktails, entertaining & gifting; and about local activities, dining and events
- Multi-task at the sales desk – Handle credit card transaction and engrave bottles.
- Participate in morning meetings, trainings, ongoing education and interactive work sessions
- Support tour guides and daily manager with other assigned duties
SKILLS - THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED TO CREATE YOUR LEGACY
- 21 years of age or older
- Good communication skills, especially verbal
- Strong number recognition and analytical skills
- Available to work weekends and holidays
- Extended time standing or walking
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Follow company guidelines for the safety and security of visitors and personal safety
- Public speaking
- Ability to think on your feet.
- Creative Thinker
- Previous Bourbon industry, food and beverage, hotel, hospitality, or retail experience a plus.
EXTERNAL QUALIFICATIONS – DEGREE, CERTIFICATION, ADDITIONAL TRAINING
- High School Diploma
- Certified or willing to become certified
- S.T.A.R certified – Server Training in Alcohol Regulations (company pays for this certification)
- Previous retail experience preferred
- Hospitality experience a plus
- Craft cocktail knowledge a plus
- Knowledge of distilled spirits a plus
