Job Overview:
The Library Paraprofessional will provide support to the Library and Media Specialist in the day-to-day functions of the library including circulation, student support, and maintaining a welcoming environment. The person in this position will model and support a love of learning and reading for students across grade and interest levels. They will also support students, families, and other community members in realizing our Guiding Principles. They will abide by our Framework for Professional Standards.
General Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Library and Media Specialist, maintain a library space that is welcoming, orderly, and student oriented
- Complete circulation tasks as assigned

Supervise students as assigned

Collaborate with the Library and Media Specialist to maintain a robust and dynamic collection by facilitating an inventory process, processing library book orders, repairing books, and marking materials for replacement

Participate in the orientation and oversight of parent volunteers (Friends of the Library)

Assist students with reading selection through an active working knowledge of books and authors in the collection

Teaches Afternoon Activity time for Preschool and PreKindergarten (one hour each day)
- Other projects/tasks as assigned
Education, Training & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree preferred.
-
Previous experience in a public or school library preferred.

Experience with a Library Management System (Follett Destiny, ExLibris’ Alma, Innovative Millennium, etc.) is highly desirable.
