JOB SUMMARY: Provide customer service by shuttle tankers on yard to and from customers receiving bays Provide assistance to receivers; manage SMI trailer wash tags, AG stickers to include inspecting trailers for correct paperwork, seals, and trailer damage.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
· Recent class A or B experience & license required; and must have acceptable MVR
· Tanker endorsement
· Successfully complete pre-employment physical and drug test and background check
· Must have proof of legal authorization to work in USA
· Excellent organizational/time management skills and ability to work with minimum supervision
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
· Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Report ready for duty as scheduled
· Call and communicate to dispatch at start and end of every shift. Do not end shift until relief has arrived.
· Transmit yard/load sheet at end of shift
· Report rejected loads to dispatch ASAP
· Report any plant shutdowns to dispatch immediately
· Immediately report any mechanical or safety issues to dispatch and Transportation Management
- Proficient and functional with hand-held SMI Trucking computer database and other electronic systems
· Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections for yard tractor/tractors
· Shuttle and scale both full and empty tankers from plant yard to receiving bay and back in a manner that is both safe and effective.
· Review and check all trailer wash tags for accuracy
· Maintain empty trailer list
· Must be able to work early or late hours, weekends, and major holidays
· Responsible for maintaining and adhering to all SMI policies
· Operate all equipment in a safe and professional manner that is in accordance to SMI polices
· Maintain and clean workspace and equipment every shift
· Execute error free work
· Other related duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· The employee will frequently stand, carry/push/lift up to 50 lbs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach up to a level of 8 feet and climb a height of up to 10 ft
· May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time and demonstrate manual dexterity while performing job duties
· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
· The employee will be occasionally exposed to twisting of the back and neck
· The employee will continuously stand, walk, handle, talk, see, and hear
ENVIRONMENT:
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to cold and extreme heat.
· The employee will occasionally be exposed to loud noise, slippery floor surface, cluttered floor surface, hazardous equipment (mechanical moving parts), contact with sharp objects, contact with skin irritants, toxic exposure nuisance dust, fumes, sprays, and hazardous cleaning solutions
· This position is classified as a safety-sensitive position; Responsible for creating and maintaining a safety-conscious work environment according to policies and procedures
