Our team collaborates to provide aid and comfort to pets and their families when unforeseen medical conditions arise or when specialty services are needed. CVSG is expanding with a 15,000 square ft. addition to be completed at the end of 2024. In 2025, growth will continue with a remodel of the current four-year-old building to include: two additional ORs (total of 4), the addition of oncology and dentistry, and an ER treatment area double the current size of the department. We are looking for a talented Surgery Technician to join us and collaborate with our close-knit and dedicated crew!
Our Surgery Team:
Our Surgery team works in a fast-paced environment, perfect for technicians that are looking for training in multiple facets of surgery and interaction with the other teams in the hospital. Strong communication skills, including active listening, mark their conversations with clients. Our highly trained surgeons, with support from our talented team, perform procedures including soft tissue, orthopedic, laparoscopic, and other advanced surgeries. The Surgery Team delivers surgical care 24/7 and all team members have on-call emergency surgery responsibilities once fully trained.
What you’ll do:
- Under the supervision of the surgeons, administer medication and manage/monitor patients during surgical procedures, including pre- and post-op care and anesthesia recovery.
- Schedule and manage consult appointments and rechecks, obtain patient histories, and discharge patients post-surgery
- Navigate client conversations around treatment plans and discuss financial obligations
- Fill medications, enter charges, and maintain accurate medical records using ezyVet and Vet Radar
- Proficiently perform blood draws, place IV catheters, and perform IV, IM, and SubQ injections
- Maintain anesthesia machines and ventilator equipment
- Submit samples/paperwork for outside laboratories
- Open, turn over, and clean operating rooms
- Clean instruments and wrap packs
- Adeptly perform radiographs
- Inspire, teach, multitask and be a highly functional team member
Who you are:
- A Colorado State Registered Veterinary Technician
- Possess a minimum of two years of veterinary experience; previous surgery experience is a plus
- Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
- Flexible with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Handle stress well while keeping a positive attitude
Work Schedule:
Surgery Team members work 4-10 hour days, scheduled Monday-Friday. Shifts are a combination of 7:00am-5:00pm and 8:00am-6:00pm.
