Position: Floral Designer
Location: Naperville Retail Location
Employment Type: Full-time 30-45 hours per week *additional time is required during peak seasons.*
Hours: 8am-6pm Mon-Saturday and some Sundays required.
Position Summary
The Floral Designer will support our largest award-winning retail location in Naperville. Exceptionally strong design skills and high degree of independent creativity required to support our impressive retail space. Ability to merchandise on-trend seasonal product that captures our customers and creates a stunning sales environment. You will prepare Phillip's signature floral designs including; custom, small party, sympathy, and standing orders. For our most impactful times of the year, you will be creating holiday and event center pieces, hand tied bouquets, and corsages, in addition to vase work. Specific Duties
- Assess and assemble flowers based on occasion that may be customized based on customer’s request (occasion and monetary budget), or Phillip’s specific designs based on multiple national channels.
- Receive work orders from customer service, automated web and wire in orders, and gather flowers and materials to create each design piece. Total out cost of each assembly piece and match to dollar amount on each work order.
- Tag product for completion for wrapping department.
Skills and Qualifications
- 2-3 years floral design experience required.
- Ability to work independently with a high degree of creativity.
- Eye for detail and ability to pick up on trends.
- Basic math skills and the ability to read and interpret invoices and work orders to ensure customized pieces match the budget of the customer or specified design.
- Ability to compose an entire product from start to finish. Proficient at product placement and creation.
- Ability to adapt to changes and product substitution.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods of time on a hard floor surface, and walk across different areas in the store to obtain product and materials.
- Exposure to different temperatures in warehouse and coolers.
