As a Pastry Assistant, you will be responsible for helping prepare, mix, bake, and finish pastry items that are consistent with Atwater’s standards at Atwater’s Big Kitchen. Has ability to make breakfast items, cookies and batters.
- Baking from scratch in a high-production facility.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Produce and scale all mixes (on a large scale); label and date product.

Measure, mix and prepare raw materials according to Atwater’s specifications and recipes.

Maintain and clean equipment and work area after use or closing. Unload and put away bakery ingredients and products.

Assist with producing all pastry products (cake, pies, cookies, cupcakes, special order items, etc.)

Recognize food costs and minimize over-production and waste.

Detects and ensures disposition of spoiled and unattractive pastry, defective supplies/equipment, and other unusual conditions.

Communicates pastry updates or issues to the supervisor/manager.

Follow and comply with health and sanitation procedures and adheres to safe work practices.

Perform other duties assigned by supervisors/managers.
Qualifications:
- Able to follow instructions and procedures.

Able to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.

Basic cake decorating skills.

Bakery mixing, baking cakes, pies, and cookies (on a large scale) experience is preferred.

Able to work independently.

Attendance and punctuality are a must.

Have or acquire a Serve Safe certificate.

Able to perform physical requirements of the position (bend and lift loads, not to exceed 50 pounds, and stand and walk for extended periods).

Able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
