The Allergy Nurse is responsible for the daily operations of Virginia, Ear, Nose & Throat Associates’ allergy services. This includes all activities associated with allergy testing, immunotherapy, and patient education.

Under the clinical direction of the allergy physicians/nurse practitioner, manages all aspects of the allergy testing function including:

Mixing the dilutants for testing.

Performing RAST tests, prick tests, and intradermal tests.

Educating patients both before and during testing; and documenting the education in the electronic medical record (EMR).

Documenting the results of all tests in the EMR and communicating them to the referring physicians and the physicians responsible for the allergy service.

Under the clinical direction of the allergy physicians/nurse practitioner, manages all aspects of the immunotherapy service including:

Mixing the drops for the sublingual therapy.
-
Preparing the vials for allergy shots.
-
Administering shots and documenting them in the EMR.
-
Documenting the patient’s immunotherapy prescription in the EMR.

Reporting quarterly/bi-annually to the patient’s attending physician and the allergy physician.

Meets at least three times a year formally with the allergy physician(s) and the Director of Operations to discuss the allergy service and opportunities for improvement.

RN or LPN with current license in the state of Virginia.

3 years of experience in a medical office setting, allergy office experience preferred.

Understanding of overall operations of the medical office setting.

Minimum of 5 years of Clinical experience, preferably in an allergy office setting.

Phlebotomy skills a must.
