We invite you to join a growing Family Primary Care Practice team at Be Well Family Care, as a Medical Assistant in Tempe, primarily focused on patient intake, clinical administration, and provider support functions. Our MAs play an integral role by providing outstanding customer clinical and administrative assistance to and for our patients. We all work together as a team to ensure Be Well Family Care provides exceptional care. We are a full-service practice who see all ages from children to seniors, specializing in LGBTQ+ care and integrative health. We offer a warm and inclusive healthcare environment for everyone. This role reports to the Director of Practice Operations with a matrix reporting relationship with the practices providers for all clinical related responsibilities.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an Experienced full-time Medical Assistant who is passionate about creating a positive and inclusive experience for our patients. The ideal candidate will have a background in medical administration in a primary care setting, can understand and communicate using correct medical terminology, excels at multi-tasking, is efficient at completing medical intakes and communicates concisely when reporting intake information to providers, anticipates the provider’s needs, and is knowledgeable about the LGBTQ+ community and the health care needs of this population. This is a growing practice where each team member assists in helping each other to ensure the practice delivers exceptional care to our patients.
- Availability to work varied shifts depending on provider’s schedule. A 10-hour shift, 4 days per week plus one Saturday per month.
- Interacting with patients professionally and respectfully, both in person and on the phone.
- Communicating with patients to provide information related to their care and any pre/post appointment instructions.
- Support a team of Nurse Practitioners and take initiative to anticipate the future needs of the providers and patients.
- Organization and time management to manage a variety of tasks effectively.
- Perform routine and preventative medical procedures.
- Complete patient intake to document the patients’ reason for visit, review of systems, vitals, and past medical, social, and family history.
- Complete authorizations, patient assistance program enrollments, and other administrative functions based on the provider/patient needs.
- Prepare patient accounts for future appointments.
- Performs other non-clinical duties to support practice needs such as filing, faxing, and answering phones.
EXPERIENCE
Required Experience
- Minimum of 1 year experience in direct patient care including obtaining vitals, administering injections, venipunctures, assisting provider with office procedures, and documenting in the EMR
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Fluent in English
Preferred Experience
- Certified Medical Assistant
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Athena EMR experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- HIV, PrEP/PEP, and/or Gender Affirming Care (GAC) experience
