As the Senior Vice President of Data Governance, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction and execution of our organization's data initiatives. You will lead efforts to establish and maintain robust data governance frameworks, drive the development and management of data products, and spearhead transformational initiatives to maximize the value of our data assets. This is a brand new position for the organization and is remote capable.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and communicate a comprehensive vision and strategy for data governance and transformation initiatives aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
Collaborate with executive leadership and the business to integrate data governance into overall business strategies and enable data product strategies.
Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data quality, security, privacy, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Design and implement governance structures, including data stewardship programs, data quality frameworks, and metadata management processes.
Oversee the development and maintenance of data catalogs, glossaries, and data dictionaries to facilitate effective data management and decision-making.
Collaborate with business sponsors to develop our data governance vision, strategy & roadmap and determine priorities.
Partner with IT and security teams to ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and company standard.
Recruit, develop, and mentor a high-performing team of data governance professionals, data product managers, and transformation specialists.
Provide leadership, guidance, and support to empower team members to achieve their full potential and deliver exceptional results.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes innovation, continuous learning, and knowledge sharing.
Policy Development
Develop strategies in collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet business data requirements. Lead the creation and enforcement of data governance policies to maintain data integrity, consistency, and regulatory compliance.
Quality Control
Monitor data quality metrics, address issues proactively, and maintain high data standards. Empower your team to take initiative in identifying and resolving data quality issues. Work directly with the MLS Data Licensing Team to ensure the latest data rules and permissible use based on current licensure is up to date.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MS) preferred.
Proven track record of leadership in data governance and data-driven transformation initiatives within complex organizations.
Deep understanding of data management principles, methodologies, and best practices, including data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA, DMBOK), data product lifecycle, and data architecture.
Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills with the ability to align data initiatives with business objectives and drive measurable business outcomes.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Demonstrated experience in leading and developing high-performing teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion for driving innovation and continuous improvement through data-driven insights.
Ability to provide cross functional leadership with stakeholders and partners across the organization.
Previous experience creating frameworks, designs, and initiatives, and proving them out.
