**Overview:**
We are seeking a talented, optimistic and caring Structural Designer to serve as a protege alongside the Principal Engineer who has 22 years experience serving his community. The ideal candidate will have their EIT certification and/or 2+ years experience in residential and light commercial structural/architectural design. We currently use AutoCAD, (optional Vectorworks), MS Office/365, Woodworks, Visual Analysis, various PDF editors, hand sketches and any other means necessary to create simple, clear, innovative and functional structural/architectural designs.
**Duties:**
- Collaborate with designers, architects, builders and property owners to develop structural/architectural designs for new and existing buildings and other structures.
- Create detailed drawings and specifications that consider strength, aesthetic, longevity, economy, constructibility, local availability of material and Owner/Builder preference
- Perform calculations and draft foundation, framing and shear wall plans from scratch or DWG files provided by Clients
- Assemble calculations package for building permit submittal
**Requirements:**
- Bachelor's degree in Structural/Architectural Engineering or related field
- Proficiency in design software described above and willingness to explore/learn new ones
- Experience with graphic design and 3D drafting such as SketchUp is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and ability to draft precise technical drawings
- Knowledge of and willingness to research building codes and regulations related to structural & architectural design
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment
