Summary: As the Special Projects Manager in our Service Department, you will oversee all aspects of service projects, including estimation, quote preparation, and execution. Leading a team, you'll ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of our clients. Extensive knowledge of the HVAC/R service industry is essential for this role.
Job Functions and Duties:
- Manage all phases of assigned service projects, ensuring timely completion and customer satisfaction.
- Lead the Small Project division, including hiring decisions, performance evaluations, and addressing employee issues.
- Plan and analyze projects, establish schedules and parameters, and set procedures to achieve objectives.
- Communicate effectively with customers, subcontractors, and field support staff.
- Review contracts and estimates for accuracy and address any discrepancies.
- Maintain project profitability by monitoring expenses and controlling costs.
- Generate and revise project schedules as needed.
- Oversee equipment, materials, subcontractor orders, and approve payments.
- Ensure compliance with state/local building regulations and permitting processes.
- Receive and evaluate subcontractor proposals, and supervise assigned staff.
- Generate technician work orders, review progress, and provide technical support.
- Meet with contractors and owners to discuss project scope, budget, progress, and closeout.
- Prepare quotes and proposals, manage project cash flow, and handle billing and collections.
- Manage change orders by recommending solutions and facilitating quotes.
- Maintain quality standards for all projects.
- Investigate and address customer concerns, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers.
- Enforce safety standards and OSHA regulations.
Qualifications:
- Two-year certificate from college or technical school OR minimum of two (2) years of HVAC project management experience.
- Experience in contracting processes associated with mechanical project installation and subcontractor management.
- Knowledge of commercial and industrial mechanical systems.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret service bulletins, technical manuals, and equipment specifications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, and volume.
- Proficiency in basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to interpret technical instructions.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Valid driver's license.
- EPA 608 Universal certification.
- HVAC Masters/Journeyman license.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand, walk, talk, and hear frequently.
- Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required.
Work Environment:
- Exposure to various environmental conditions, including wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and extreme weather.
- Moderate noise level in the work environment.
Work Availability and Requirements:
- Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and travel as required.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $98,000.00 per year
