Overview: Our client, a federally funded educational nonprofit organization that temporarily takes over under-performing Head Start Programs for kids in disadvantaged areas/situations, throughout the US, is seeking a Temp-to-Hire Travel Agent to provide travel-related services to local and remote staff and consultants. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager and is remote (except the occasionally in-office all staff meetings, approx. 1x/month, in Denver, CO). Equipment will be provided. APPLICANTS MUST LIVE IN COLORADO, preferably the greater Denver metro area.
Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (30-minute unpaid meal break)
Duties:
- Consult published and online sources to analyze and evaluate times, routings, fares, car rentals, accommodations, and discount programs
- Prepare tentative plans and suitable alternatives and finalize travel by obtaining proper approval
- Use a computerized reservation system to book transportation, hotel and car reservations, and issue itineraries
- Serve as a general resource for travelers, research traveler problems, and resolve issues
- Adheres to Company Travel & Expense Policy and communicates that policy to travelers
- Manage group travel to coordinate flights, hotels, and shared cars
- Secure meeting space for group training or other business-related events and activities, including destination research and contract negotiation with the hotel or venue
- Manage and produce required travel reporting for government contracts, monitor travel and cost trends, and work with senior leadership to minimize travel costs
- Accomplish duties within airline and ARC rules and standards
- Serve as a member of the Operations Team, working to support key organizational and team priorities
- Performs other job duties/responsibilities as may be assigned for the successful operation of the organization
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role as a Corporate Travel Agent preferred
- Strongly preferred knowledge and past experience using the Sabre GDS System
- International travel booking experience is a plus
- High school diploma required
- Two years of post-high school education is preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Working knowledge of the travel business
- Ability to act as a self-starter and demonstrate initiative
- Ability to work as a proactive, resourceful, cooperative, and respectful team member
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Detail-oriented with excellent customer service skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with short lead times
