A position has been declared open in the Weber School District in Maintenance for a Grounds - Lead Worker. This position is for 8 hours per day, 12 months per year.
This position is open to current employees in the Maintenance Department.

Purpose Statement :
The job of Grounds Leadworker was established for the purpose/s of maintaining attractive grounds area/s; protecting against erosion; maintaining grounds for assemblies and/or recreational activities (e.g. track, football, graduation, etc.); directing department personnel as assigned; and ensuring assignments are completed in a safe, proper and timely manner.
Essential Functions:

Attends meetings in the absence of the foreman (e.g. staff inservice workshops, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or conveying information.

Reviews work orders and budget items for the purpose of assisting the foreman in ensuring accuracy and determining feasibility of projects.

Assists with snow removal (e.g. shovels, operating snow blower and/or snowplow, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring a safe environment.

Cleans landscaped areas and related items (e.g. storm drains, litter, etc.) for the purpose of preventing flooding and removing hazards.

Coordinates with site, administration, athletic coaches and custodians for the purpose of adjusting irrigation schedules, field preparation, etc.

Directs assigned personnel for the purpose of maximizing the efficiency of the work force and meeting shift requirements.

Evaluates landscaped areas, equipment, sprinkler systems and grounds (e.g. fields, parking areas, etc.) for the purpose of identifying repairs and/or replacement needs, maintaining schedules and preventing erosion.

Inspects project sites for the purpose of ensuring compliance with local/state regulations.

Operates heavy equipment (e.g. mower, backhoe, aerator, tractor, grader, etc.) for the purpose of preparing and/or maintaining district grounds.

Plants various landscaping materials (e.g. lawns, shrubbery, flowers, etc.) for the purpose of keeping the areas attractive and for protection against erosion.

Prepares documentation for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.

Prepares grounds and athletic fields (e.g. assemblies, graduation, ball fields, courtyards, flower beds, etc.) for the purpose of providing adequate, attractive and safe areas for assemblies, athletic events and/or recreational activities.

Recommends alternative landscaping methods for the purpose of assisting Grounds Foreman in solving landscaping issues.

Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.

Supervises workers and jobs as assigned (e.g. inspecting work, providing instructions, assisting with work assignments, etc.) for the purpose of providing supervisory support in the absence of the foreman.

Transports various items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at the job site.
Other Functions

Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Physical Demands
Very heavy work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The work also requires the following physical abilities in order to perform the essential job functions; balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Must be able to operate equipment used in trade.

Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
Education: Targeted job related education that meets organization's prerequisite requirements.
