In our time of Company growth, we are seeking a Medical Records Specialist Part-Time.
As part of this role, you will:

Protect medical records and other health information from loss, destruction or unauthorized use or access

Use MCR Health computer system to look up dates of service, appointment location, medical record numbers for accurate identification and location of patient records, and, of the information filed into respective paper records/scanned into respective EHR

Purge inactive Medical records, log and prepare for long term archive storage

Perform release of information activities in accordance with state and federal regulations, preparing, scanning and/or copying requested information from the medical record

Maintain records and loose information in appropriate order (terminal digit or alphabetical)

Prepare and pulls medical records for schedules and patient appointments

Request medical records for patient appointments or audits as needed

Train PSR staff to ensure proper execution of health information management activities according to established standards of MCR and outside accrediting bodies (such as TJC)

Respond to telephone calls within MCR using proper telephone etiquette and professional demeanor

Maintain an open line of communication with leadership team on the status of MCR operations and key performance indicators as it relates to areas of assigned responsibility
What you need to bring to this role:
-
High School Diploma or GED required (AA or AS in Health Information Management preferred)

1+ years’ experience related to health information management required (2+ preferred)

2+ years’ clerical experience required (preferably in a healthcare environment)

Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite preferred

Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
The Medical Records Specialist (MRS) requires independent decision-making and responsibility regarding patient information. This individual shall perform/coordinate specific functions directly related to the preparation, maintenance, and security of patient medical records as it relates to the continuity and quality of care provided. The MRS analyzes patient medical records for compliance with established quality standards in, both, electronic and paper media. Performs release of information activities, prepares records for purging, and maintains logs of purged records. Assures availability of medical records for continued delivery of quality patient care. Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
