Camp will consist of staying overnight in cabin accommodations in Eureka, MO (meals and snacks provided) from 6 p.m. on Friday to 5 p.m. on Sunday the following 2024-2025 weekends: August 23, September 6 & 20, October 11 & 25, November 8 & 22, December 6, January 24, February 21, March 14 & 28, April 11 & 25, and May 2.
What you will do:
The Camp Nurse will manage the health plan for approximately 24 campers (13 to 70 years old) with developmental disabilities as well as camp personnel.
- Plan and make provisions for health care services for people who are participating in the R&R project
- Responsible for the supervision, administration of medication and dispensing daily medication, including insulin, nebulizer treatments, and g-tube feedings.
- Responsible for medical treatment needs which may include: bowel & bladder routines, catheterizations, g-tubes, trachs, breathing treatments and diabetic management
- Provide 1st Aid and health care intervention in the case of an emergency;
- Provide health care such as reviewing signs/symptoms of illness and advising on appropriate actions;
- Will be “on call” during the entire weekend, including nights to both dispense medication and in case of emergencies.
- Communicate with the coordinator any changes in camper’s health
- Prepare, maintain, and complete all health care related reports, forms, and documentation
- If necessary, transport or ride in an ambulance with an individual who needs immediate medical treatment;
- Responsible for family/guardian communication, regarding health-related issues;
- Ensure implementation of proper health care plans as ordered by physicians;
- Maintain an on-going assessment of the health needs of individuals;
- Complete all St. Louis Arc required paperwork, including but not limited to: Medication Administration Records, and Medical Error Report Forms

What we expect of you:
The flexible, enthusiastic individual we see is full of dedication and compassion with these qualifications:
- RN or LPN, currently licensed in the State of Missouri
- Two or more years of experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities preferred.
- Ability to pass pre-employment background check (i.e. Missouri Family Care Safety Registry)
- Reliable transportation to and from camp
- Ability to see, hear, bend, use stairs, lift up to 75 lbs. from floor to shoulder, and walk and/or stand for up to 8 hours
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English fluently
- Ability to provide health care adhering to the ethics and standards of the American Nurses Association
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and cooperatively with other staff and families/guardians/caregivers
- Ability to make sound and immediate decisions, especially during emergencies
- Ability to use computer equipment and relevant software applications
