Accounting Associate Job Description
Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated Accounting Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for various accounting tasks including receiving payments, handling financing, processing payments, reconciling accounts, and assisting with billing processes. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in accounting within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Receive Payments and Post in AMS:
· Receive payments from clients and accurately post them in the Agency Management System (AMS).
2. Receive Financing from Companies:
· Handle incoming financing from companies and ensure proper documentation and posting.
3. Process Payments:
· Pay carriers, vendors, or clients (if return premium) in a timely manner, adhering to company policies and procedures.
4. Post Commission Statements:
· Receive commission statements and accurately post them in the accounting system.
5. Bank Account Reconciliation:
· Assist in reconciling bank accounts to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
6. Surplus Lines Filing:
· Manage surplus lines filing requirements and ensure compliance with regulations.
7. Deposit Checks:
· Deposit incoming checks into the appropriate bank accounts.
8. Handle Funds Transfers:
· Pull funds from clients using Simply Easier and ensure proper allocation.
9. Policy Management:
· Assign downloads to policies accurately and efficiently.
10. Agency Bill Statements:
· Retrieve and process agency bill statements for reconciliation and payment purposes.
11. Billing Support:
· Assist the team with billing tasks as needed, including invoicing and reconciling accounts.
12. ImageRight Tasks:
· Navigate and complete assigned tasks in ImageRight, ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- Prior experience in accounting or finance roles in the insurance industry is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Familiarity with accounting software and systems is preferred; specifically Quickbooks and Vertafore (AMS 360).
