Summary:
Our organization is currently seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to join our team. This individual is directly responsible for the efficiency and flow of inventory to support all production requirements. This job requires a detail-oriented individual with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. This individual will interact with all departments and management levels. Required computer abilities include a moderate level of expertise with the software programs Word and Excel. This individual must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Manage the procurement of materials and services at the lowest cost, in the most efficient manner possible.
- Manage purchase orders based on MRP demands as well as exception requirements.
- Facilitate materials and parts needed by manufacturing and maintenance to ensure the plant’s continued operation.
- Work with Quality Assurance to resolve quality challenges.
- Work with finance to resolve potential invoice/PO variances.
- Control inventory by validating transactions, reporting cycle counts and helping run/manage the quarterly physical inventory.
- Generate and track cost-saving initiatives and projects.
- Provide support to production scheduling on all material flow issues to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
- Negotiate with material vendors on sourcing, pricing, and material availability.
- Partner with sales to ensure accuracy during the quotation and procurement phase.
- Adjust orders and deliveries as needed to minimize excess inventory levels.
- Monitor upcoming open orders to ensure on-time delivery.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 5+ years of applicable work experience in materials and/or manufacturing scheduling.
- Experience managing MRP/ERP systems.
- Knowledge of plantwide manufacturing constraints and good manufacturing practices.
Special Skills or other Requirements:
- Excellent management, organizational, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to negotiate favorable terms and continuously improve pricing for materials and services.
- Demonstrated hands-on approach and an ability to work effectively in a team-based environment across all levels of the organization.
- Proven track record of positive and long-standing relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Wood product experience preferred.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
