Description:Directs, develops, and oversees the general health and safety policies and procedures of the organization. Ensures the workplace is in compliance with OSHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulations and that periodic safety audits are conducted. Provides programs that ensure a safe workplace including safety orientations, skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Develops a systemic process to collect data and analyze the causes of accidents and generate required reporting. Implements sustainable processes to reduce and prevent accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards.

- Effectively drive sustainable implementation of corporate, division and local systems and processes via hands-on leadership, coaching and teamwork.

- Study data and trends to implement safety improvement. Organize, coordinate and conduct training for Safety Committee on safety topics and current safety programs.
- Utilize Continuous Improvement principles, tools, systems, and processes to enhance performance.
- Specific knowledge of OSHA Subparts 29 CFR 1910 and 29 CFR 1926 and how those integrate in the Renewable Energy sector.
- Strong focus on hazard mitigation, incident reporting, and developing SMART corrective actions for incident prevention.
- Ensure effective injury case management process is fully implemented, well understood and functioning optimally. Provide customer service for all employees with inquiries in the areas of safety to include, but not limited to workers’ compensation, personal protective equipment, etc.
- Supervises the activity and mentors the development of the safety team including selection, training, evaluation, and counseling.
- Communicates and collaborates with management team, operations managers and project teams to ensure safety strategies and programs align with corporate expectations and policies.
- Lead incident investigation process, including cause analysis and identification of corrective action plans.
- Maintains employee relations through regular department meetings; maintains on-going interaction and open communication with employees, monitors employee morale, and responds to and implements ideas to improve employee engagement and capacity.
- Performs special projects and completes all other duties as assigned or requested for the general support of the organization.
Requirements:To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an individual should be able to demonstrate and provide the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in safety management, environmental science or 10 years of safety experience.
- Requires 5 plus years of managerial experience.
- Extensive knowledge in Word, Excel and Outlook and the ability and willingness to learn new software applications.
- Excellent organizational skills, communications skills, the ability to multi-task, and most importantly, the ability to work well in a team.
- Openness to change, flexibility, and adaptability.
- Strong analytical thinker with the ability to resolve complex issues.
- Self-starter with a drive for continuous improvement of the business operations.
- Express willingness to step out of the box to assist other teams to meet and overcome challenges for the company.
This position is largely self-directed and requires understanding of company policy, procedures, and values. Team members will be required to adhere to all safety requirements in all work environments. This position operates in both an office and field environment. Specific requirements include:
- Occasional travel to job sites and RENEW locations
- Ability to climb ladders up to heights of 300+ feet
- Must not exceed 280 lbs. (without gear on) for safety of employees
- Work in confined spaces with diverse environmental conditions
- Ability to lift up to 80 pounds
- Possess a valid driver’s license
