Per Diem Screener, Speech And Hearing, Mount Sinai West
Coordinates the day to day clerical/secretarial operations in the assigned departments. Is cognizant of the philosophy, standards, objectives and policies of the Department and the Hospital Center.
Responsibilities
A. Clinical/Technical/Service
-
Demonstrates the ability to perform clinical/technical/service/administrative tasks:

Greets patients, families, vendors and visitors. Assists with telephones. Oversees that the appropriate information is relayed. Takes messages as indicated.

Prepares all records and documentation necessary to meet confidential NYS regulations for mandatory infant screenings.

Responsible for overall activities of universal hearing screening including follow up at all divisions assigned.

Prepares all records and documentation necessary to meet confidential NYS regulations for mandatory infant screenings.

Enters patient confidential information into specific computer system for infant screening.

Prepares confidential records and forms as per the departments policies and procedures.
-
Deals discreetly with large amounts of sensitive, confidential information concerning hospital affairs, information in minutes, letters and other documents necessary to relay to families and the state.

Obtains medical records, reports, etc.

Coordinates/prepares daily sign in sheets/schedule, this includes verifying schedules.

Manages/maintains inventory of office supplies and infant hearing screening program supplies.
-
Assists with the QI necessary to meet the new York state standards.

Oversees that all patients are called back within working day.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned area.

Identifies physical, behavioral and emotional characteristics typical for the age group.

Modifies approaches based on patient age- specific needs and responses to treatment.

Provides care for patient based on age-specific needs.

Uses communication techniques which are age appropriate.
B. Organizational/Managerial

Participates in department’s performance improvement activities.

Maintains patient/employee confidentiality in the management of information.

Assists in the maintenance of appropriate supply and inventory for the department.

Oversees/prepares computerized statistical report in Excel based on sheets provided by each therapist.

Demonstrates organizational and time management skills necessary to complete the assigned duties.

Meets regulatory, licensure and annual health assessment requirements.

Displays courtesy, tact and patience during interactions with all members of the hospital staff and extended community.

Can help identify patients’ needs and direct patients with respect to which discipline the patient requires.

Maybe required to perform other duties as assigned or perform other duties when necessary.
Qualifications
High School graduate or equivalent. Some college required. (College graduate preferred).
Knowledge of basic computer skills preferred.
Compensation Statement
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $20.00 - $20.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
