Job Summary:
The Accountant will oversee and manage the daily operations of the accounting department. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and supporting the Controller in financial reporting and analysis. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise the Accounting Department.
- Coordinates training programs for new staff and identifies training needs for current staff.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Establishes internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation.
- Oversees preparation of business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets.
- Performs general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
- Prepares periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
- Maintains the general ledger.
- Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
- Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
- Reconciles customer accounts and manages accounts receivable collections.
- Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- As appropriate, coordinates with IT department to maintain accounting software system; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
- Audits account to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit.
- Presents recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.
- Provides financial analysis with emphasis on cash management, fixed asset management, expense controls, and profitability models.
- Ensures procedures and management of customers and suppliers are strictly adhered to.
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- 5 years or more of related experience is required.
- At least 2 years of proven managerial experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
