An OTR (Over-the-Road) box truck driver has several key responsibilities:Transportation of Goods: The primary duty is to transport goods from one location to another, often over long distances and across state lines. This includes ensuring timely and safe delivery of the cargo.Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections of the truck to ensure it is in good working condition. This includes checking tires, brakes, lights, and fluid levels. Reporting any mechanical issues and arranging for repairs as needed.Loading and Unloading: Assist with the loading and unloading of cargo, ensuring that goods are properly secured and balanced to prevent damage during transit.Compliance with Regulations: Adhere to all federal and state regulations, including hours of service rules, weight limits, and other safety standards. Maintain accurate logbooks and records as required by law.Route Planning and Navigation: Plan routes to optimize travel time and fuel efficiency while considering road conditions, traffic, and weather. Use GPS and other navigation tools to follow the planned route.Customer Service: Interact professionally with customers during pickups and deliveries. Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively and addressing any issues or concerns that arise.Safety Practices: Follow all safety protocols to ensure personal safety and the safety of others on the road. This includes wearing seat belts, following speed limits, and driving defensively.Documentation and Paperwork: Manage and complete all necessary paperwork, including delivery receipts, bills of lading, and any other required documentation.Cargo Handling: Ensure the safe handling of all types of cargo, including fragile and hazardous materials, by following proper handling procedures.Problem Solving: Address any issues that arise during transit, such as mechanical problems, delays, or routing issues, by finding appropriate solutions or seeking assistance as needed.Overall, the role of an OTR box truck driver is demanding, requiring a mix of technical skills, adherence to regulations, and strong interpersonal abilities to ensure the efficient and safe transport of goods.
We Require:
- Must be 21+ Years of age at the time of applying.
- Must have valid driver's license.
- Must have valid DOT medical card.
- Must have Clean Driving record
- No moving violations within the last 36 Months
- No at fault accidents withing last 36 Months
- Be able to pass a comprehensive background check.
- Non-DOT physical and Drug Screen
