The Enhanced ICSRP program is a new 24-hour Behavioral Health program located in a remodeled apartment building in Burien, WA. Clients live in 17 studio apartments in a building staffed with Intensive Case Managers and Behavioral Health Support Specialists 24/7. We are looking for compassionate, responsible individuals to work as a team to assist clients with severe and persistent mental illness to live independently, have a high quality of life and reach their recovery goals.
The Specialist’s role is to provide clients with serious and persistent mental illness, and those with co-occurring disorders (mental illness and substance use disorders) a higher quality of life in a safe and therapeutic environment. The Specialist will be expected to work with a diverse population and must be sensitive to the culture, religion, language, age, gender, and sexual orientation of the population served. Duties include overseeing med pass, running therapeutic and recreational groups, assisting clients in learning independent living skills and crisis intervention, as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Supports each client’s individualized treatment plan to assist him or her in developing the skills needed to successfully live and work more independently in the community.
2) Precisely monitors and documents consumer medication compliance in our Electronic MAR (medication administration record.). Educates consumers regarding the benefits of medication compliance.
3)Develop therapeutic and effective working relationships with clients, while maintaining professional boundaries with clients and their support system. Exhibits good clinical judgment in possibly challenging situations.
4) Spends time in the milieu, motivating, teaching, and assisting consumers in self-care, practical living, leisure, and interpersonal skills, as appropriate.
5.) Maintains confidentiality of clients’ Protected Health Information (PHI) and adheres to HIPAA guidelines.
5) Monitors clients' health care needs, substance use issues, and clients’ mental status. Reports concerns or incidents to consumer’s primary case manager, agency RN, or supervisory staff.
6) Effectively intervenes in client crises, including consulting with agency staff, on-call supervisors, and Designated Crisis Responders regarding potentially dangerous or problematic situations. May be required to write affidavits and testify in civil (mental health) court hearings regarding involuntary detention.
7) Encourages and assists consumers to engage in work or other meaningful daily activities.
8) Reminds clients of appointments and assists in preparing them for other appointments as necessary.
9.) Effectively completes behavioral health DAP progress notes documenting interactions with clients in our Electronic Health Record. Maintains shift log and communicates information to the next staff member on shift. Consults Program Manager as needed.
10.) Conducts regular safety checks of the facility. Monitor cameras and document the presence of clients and others on site.
11.) Performs basic janitorial duties on shift such as washing dishes, wiping down tables and counters, emptying trash, vacuuming. Assists with apartment turnovers, routine inspections of apartments, monitor and make maintenance requests as needed.
12.) Other duties as assigned including but not limited to: shredding confidential documents, copying and stocking forms and med cart supplies, answering the phone and transferring calls as needed.
RELATIONSHIP WITH COMMUNITY AND CO-WORKERS
1) Contributes to cooperative working relationships with clinical teammates and with supervisors, and other staff within the agency.
2) Solicits and provides case consultation and coordination as needed.
3) Presents a positive professional image of the agency to referral sources, other service providers, neighbors and the larger community.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
AA in Human Services plus treatment experience working with individuals with serious and persistent mental illness. BA preferred. Other residential or social service experience may substitute. The position requires state Agency Affiliated Counselor registration, first aid/CPR training, HIV related training, TB blood test, criminal background and fingerprint ID, valid driver's license, an acceptable driving record in order to drive Agency vehicles. Must have reliable transportation. Must be able to tolerate and work effectively with unruly, unpleasant, or bizarre behavior. Must be able to tolerate possible substance use by clients and support a harm reduction approach to substance use.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The requirements described here are representative of those needed to fulfill the basic requirements of the position. Must be able to walk up and down stairs several times a day and lift up to 30 pounds if needed.
COVID-19 REQUIREMENTS
All staff must provide proof of having been fully COVID-19 vaccinated. The agency follows CDC and Washington State Department of Health’s guidelines in its measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Must be able/willing to wear a mask if needed during an outbreak of Covid19 at the program. Must be willing to work with clients who may be positive for Covid19 and may be unwilling to wear a mask.
WAGES & HOURS
$31.07 per hour, with an additional $2.50 per hour for weekend shifts.
This is a non-exempt position.
Over-night shift: Wednesday through Saturday, 11:00pm to 9:00am
Behavioral Health Support Specialists are expected to participate in the agency’s on-call system. On-call hours require being available by phone to be called in within 30 minutes of contact and are reimbursed at a rate of $3.00 per hour while off-site, with an additional $200 paid if called in to work (in addition to the hourly rate of pay.)
Staff are encouraged to be flexible in providing coverage for overnight, weekend, or holiday shifts, when needed.
