Preschool Teacher
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday Daytime
Reports to: Center Director
Responsibilities:
Curriculum Planning and Implementation
- Plan and execute both long and short-range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practices, and program philosophy.
- Prepare and implement daily lessons and activities that promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of each child.
- Encourage and involve assistant teachers in curriculum planning.
Child Development and Assessment
- Meet the emotional, social, physical, and cognitive needs of each child.
- Complete bi-annual assessments of children's development.
- Report children's progress to parents through bi-annual reports and parent-teacher conferences.
Classroom Management
- Arrange and maintain a classroom environment that aligns with program goals and philosophy.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment for all children.
- Supervise and engage children during indoor and outdoor activities.
- Ensure the classroom is well-organized, clean, and equipped with necessary supplies and materials.
Communication
- Maintain daily open communication with parents regarding their child's progress and any concerns.
- Keep accurate accident reports and inform parents of any incidents.
- Maintain confidentiality of children, families, and staff information.
Supervision and Training
- Supervise assistant teachers, providing guidance and support.
- Encourage and facilitate professional development and team-building among staff.
- Attend and actively participate in in-service training sessions and staff meetings.
Compliance and Record-Keeping
- Ensure all applicable licensing regulations and program standards are met.
- Keep all necessary records, including attendance, time sheets, and developmental reports.
Additional Duties
- Prepare meals and snacks for children as needed.
- Change diapers and assist with toilet training for younger children.
- Inspect and replace any damaged or lost materials.
- Report any suspected abuse or neglect to the supervisor immediately.
Requirements:
- Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related Human Services field.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a preschool setting.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Physical and TB test clearance.
- Criminal Background, Fingerprint, and Child Abuse Clearances.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to create and maintain a positive and nurturing environment for children.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
