Fahrenheit Advisors is assisting our client, Applied Environmental, in the search for a Communications Specialist Event Planner to provide onsite client support for federal outreach initiatives in Arlington, VA. Our ideal candidate has exposure to technical writing, is team-oriented and creative with a customer service-oriented mindset, and excellent organizational and communication skills. The position requires interacting with multi-disciplinary groups, colleagues, and engineers to assist in planning and executing outreach initiatives and events and requires the ability to work quickly and efficiently with a strong attention to detail.
Job Responsibilities:
- Plan and organize events, provide logistical support, create promotional and educational materials, and provide updates to web sites.
- Assist with research and execute results-oriented, creative outreach campaigns in the areas of environmental, sustainability, energy, occupational safety and health, and fire safety and prevention.
- Distribute outreach media, such as fliers, posters, emails, column wraps, brochures, or websites, to communicate environmental, sustainability, safety, fire and occupational health issues, procedures, or objectives including events such as Earth Day, National Engineers Week, Safety Month, Fire Prevention Week, Preparedness Fair, Energy Action Month, World Water Day, and Ask a Fire Inspector.
- Provide backup support for developing and updating website content and SharePoint redesigns for government clients to ensure efficient access to information.
- Contribute to event preplanning and onsite support during virtual and in person events including securing event space, tracking promotional inventory, drafting agendas, proofreading and formatting plans, memoranda, notices, reports, PowerPoint presentations, and other materials as well as writing meeting minutes, drafting promotional materials, and preparing event summary reports and lessons learned.
- Assist with setting up display booths and preparing and distributing fact sheets and handouts at table events.
- Support scheduling, hosting meetings, and answering questions about all environmental related support topics.
- Assist with development of presentations for senior leaders.
- Ensure that all reports and/or deliverables have received the proper QA/QC review, including peer review and senior technical review.
- Ensure that projects are performed in accordance with the scope of work/contract requirements.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree and one plus years of experience in the field or in a related area
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance and to work on-site at the Pentagon full-time
