Summary:
The Civil/Site Designer applies theory and principles of Civil/Site Engineering to design land development and construction documents for roads, storm drainage systems, storm water management facilities, water and sanitary sewer utility design, sediment and erosion control, and traffic control associated with residential, commercial, and institutional projects.
Responsibilities:
· Design and develop civil/site plans and construction documents under the direction of a licensed Civil/Site Engineer.
· Perform and prepare technical design calculations associated with land development projects.
· Complete site visits and prepare associated field reports
· Observe and provide general coordination of various field testing (i.e. water pressure testing, gravity sewer low pressure testing, manhole vacuum testing, etc.)
· Read and interpret civil engineering drawings and building plans, and read maps and land surveys to note land grading, nearby structures, and other factors that could affect the placement of piping and utility systems.
· Confer with supervisor to determine project details such as plan preparation, acceptance testing, and evaluation of field conditions.
· Stay up-to-date and adhere to city, county and state laws regarding design and building code requirements and submit proposed design plan to governments for approval.
Skills and Experience:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
· EI/EIT certification preferred.
· 0-2 years of qualifying civil engineering design
· Previous experience with AutoCAD and/or Civil3D preferred.
· Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Demonstrate a strong desire to continue learning, and be energetic and self-motivated.
