EnvrioStaff is recruiting an Operations Manager for an Environmental laboratory located in Fort Wayne, IN. The laboratory specializes in running environmental organic, inorganic and metals tests using EPA methods. To be considered for this role a candidate would need to have a strong background in Organics and/or Inorganic EPA methods. Under the direction of the General Manager, you would be tasked with directing, coordinating, facilitating, and monitoring daily activities of the lab operations department managers and supervisor.
As an Operations Manager, you would be responsible for leading a team of 40-50 analysts and technicians, ensuring that safety and quality standards are being met and maintained within the labs safety and QA programs. You would be serving as a key member and contributor to the lab’s leadership team in the development and implementation of the lab’s strategic direction. In this key role of laboratory operations, you would oversee, and mange budgets of the operations performed to meet goals, participate in inventory management and responsible for making effective strategies to complete the whole operation within timelines and budget.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in a science or technical-related discipline, or a minimum of 7 years of experience in a management role ideally with operations management experience gained in an accelerated-growth organization with a diploma or GED certificate preferred
- At least 5 to 10 years of Environmental experience including Organic, Inorganic, and Metals background
- Working knowledge of laboratory safety with extensive knowledge of the current suite of testing capabilities
- Proven ability to support and train staff members for the department in order to meet customers’ expectations on testing
· Ability to communicate (written and oral) effectively with clients and colleagues with great attention to detail and timing of results
- Understanding of continuous improvement disciplines such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, etc.
- Strong project management, analytical and problem-solving skills provide go-to insight in the daily efficient operation of the lab
