Do you have a background in social work, psychology, or criminal justice? Do you enjoy learning about the criminal justice system? Passport To Learning is looking for Criminal Justice Advocates for part-time with the opportunity for full-time based on availability in Los Angeles County, CA. These advocates will provide coaching, counseling, and responsibility training to adults with disabilities who are either on probation, parole or have pending court cases to ensure compliance with court orders and deter recidivism and antisocial or criminal behavior.
Duties include: one-to-one training & support with clients on conflict resolution, critical thinking skills, recidivism prevention, and more; participating in client's peer support group; reporting and assessing progress to program coordinators and managers.
Requirements: knowledge of intellectual disabilities, knowledge of the criminal justice system; experience with Microsoft Word and Excel; Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in education, criminal justice, criminology, psychology or sociology.
Additional requirements: reliable transportation, valid California driver's license, car insurance, and CPR/1st Aid. We also conduct an extensive background clearance process, including a 3-year Motor Vehicle Report.
