Canyon Falls Farm is seeking a proactive and solution-oriented Shop Mechanic to join our farm team in the Oakley/Burley area. The Shop Mechanic makes safe and timely repairs as well as maintenance to ensure functional operation of all the farm equipment including on automotive, industrial, and Ag. A successful mechanic can diagnose problems and has the mechanical knowledge to solve them using safe, cost effective, and efficient methods.
Responsibilities:
- Service farm equipment (oil, lube, filters, water, etc.), fuel field equipment, and maintain fuel, inventory, and service records.
- Assist with farm duties such as spraying, mowing, irrigating, etc.
- Perform repair of all power equipment in field as needed (tires, alternators, hydraulics, etc.).
- Perform in-shop repair of power units and other equipment, as required.
- Repair and maintenance on brake systems for both hydraulic and air brakes.
- Weld and fabricate, as needed.
- Perform equipment evaluation with preventive maintenance in mind.
- Become proficient in the use of specialized tools, such as valve grinders, boring and resurfacing equipment, electrical testing equipment and others (e.g., drill press milling machine, metal lathe).
- Champion a world class safety culture by becoming familiar with all safety devices and emergency shutdown procedures including lockout-tag out procedures, as well as understanding MSDS sheets, pesticide labels and application notification procedures. Attend and actively participate in regular safety meetings and trainings.
- Upkeep on current industry education, renew job-related professional licenses/certifications, and cross-train in other tasks to serve as the back-up mechanic to others on the team.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years demonstrated mechanical experience, including welding and fabricating.
- High School Diploma or equivalent. Advanced education or industry-related training/certifications desired.
- Basic mechanical aptitude with some applicable training or experience.
- Valid driver's license and First Aid and CPR card. CDL and Hazmat Endorsement strongly desired.
- Ability to operate a variety of farm equipment.
- Equipped with quality tools required to safely perform job assignments.
- Strong demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills. Bilingual Spanish a plus.
- Ability to work overtime, nights, weekends and rotating shifts as required.
- Able to meet the physical requirements of the role which involves but is not limited to heavy lifting 70+ lbs, bending, kneeling and twisting repetitively throughout work shift. Stepping up, stepping down and kneeling required. Occasional long-term standing on hard surfaces during work shift. Repetitive wrist, hand and finger movement that encompasses squeezing, rotating and bending. Arm movement encompasses extension, raising and bending. Neck movement encompasses raising, rotating, forward, backward and side to side.
