ABOUT THE JOB:
At the plant level, this position will test the quality of the tubing at various stages of production. This position is responsible for calibrating all measuring tools within the mill. The quality lab technician is also responsible for the day to day operation of the Waste Water Treatment facility and all testing that is required in that area
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
- Mechanical testing: tensile, yield, rockwell and elongation
- Mounts, polisher, grinder, microscope, decarburization
- Conduct flare and flatten tests on samples
- File work orders and sales orders (scan all documentation)
- Complete process and product audits
- Calibrate measuring tools in mill using GageTrak
- Ascertain quality control issues: approve tubing for shipping or place tubing on Quality Control hold until corrections can be made
- Oversee Waste Water Treatment and complete all necessary testing
- Complete subcontractor performance measurement on raw material suppliers
- Raw material test report entry
- Initiate and track nonconformance’s
- Manage and understand customer and government specification, prints, standards etc.
- Provide aid or backup to other management staff as deemed necessary
- Participation is engagement program (safety meeting, safety tour, near misses, safety talk, observations) training, R3’s/JSA’s, safety checklist, autonomous maintenance, accident investigation, 5S, crane and mobile truck inspections, emergency drills, hearing conservation, surveys, notify supervisors of any hazards, follow safety programs and policies, recordkeeping, audits, purchasing safety equipment, assessing the safety program, and initiating service requests
- Perform other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
· High School Diploma
· Some experience in lab setting
· Able to use hand tools
· Less than 10% travel outside of the plant
