SPECIAL EDUCATION INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
● Serve as instructional assistant to the classroom teacher and a resource to students
● Assist with evaluation of and data collection to record student performance
● Preparation, care and supervision of equipment and/or resource materials
● Conduct individual and small group instruction under the direction of the teacher
● Assist with classroom and individual student behavior management under the direction of the teacher, including behavior deescalation and management techniques● Assist with general office clerical tasks (filing, copying, etc.) as related to IEP records management
● Assist in lifting students who weigh over fifty (50) pounds
● May be assigned to provide 1:1 support as needed
Qualifications:
● State Paraprofessional License (60 or more college credit hours or pass
Paraprofessional test to apply for license) OR Substitute Teacher license
(Bachelor’s degree required)
● Successful completion of the District Lifting Evaluation
● Successful completion of District Background and Criminal Checks
