RN - Market House Supervisor & Float Pool Manager

Day Shift, Hours Variable (Weekly - One 12 hour shift at SOVAH Danville, One 12-hour shift at SOVAH Martinsville, One Office Day), Overtime Eligible
Position Summary:
- Position is responsible for both SOVAH Campuses (Danville & Martinsville), also referred to as "Market"
- Responsible for House Supervisors, Float Pools and sitter programs
- Responsible for providing leadership and direction in accordance with organizational and departmental philosophy and goals
- Acts as the supervisor on duty to make management decisions, provide direction and supervision with operational issues for all hospital departments
- Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization for float pool and house supervision and other areas as assigned
- Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives
- Coordinates staffing/bed control meeting of Nursing Management to facilitate patient throughput and appropriate patient placement
- Works with Director/Clinical Managers to ensure daily staffing needs are met for all nursing departments providing patient care; oversight of staffing activities
- Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives
- Ensures that staff meet necessary educational, certification, and license requirements of their position
- Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding
- Coordinates and directs internal/external audits
- Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth

Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of a Program in Professional Nursing
- Registered Nurse from the Virginia Board of Nursing or compact State
- Minimum of five (5) years of RN experience in an acute care hospital setting
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
- Requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including weekends and holidays
- Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association (AHA)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), American Heart Association (AHA)
- Bachelor of Science strongly degree, preferred
- Master’s degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration, preferred
- Three (3) years of leadership experience, preferred
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), American Heart Association (AHA) preferred
