The LPN is responsible to prepare patients for the exam with the physician or nurse practitioner in the office. This includes taking a brief history, obtaining vital signs and growth measurements as appropriate. Nurses will triage, document and respond to all clinical patient calls, including prescription refill requests and patient test report requests and all lab, pharmacy, hospital, etc. calls. They will also contact patients with results and messages directed by the physician and nurse practitioners. There is extensive utilization and documentation in the electronic medical records system. Performance of clinical procedures including vaccinations, assisting the provider with point-of-care patient needs during injections, suturing, ear lavage, mole removal and pap smears. Obtaining referrals, prior authorizations and pre-certifications as appropriate for appointments scheduled with specialists and therapists and obtaining approval for non-formulary medications. Flexibility and knowledge are key in this role. Highly prefer previous physician's office or urgent care experience or relevant hospital experience.
