Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Controller to join our team. The ideal candidate will thrive in a client-facing role, managing a small team of accountants while overseeing the financial health of multiple nonprofit organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day financial operations for a portfolio of nonprofit clients, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Prepare and review financial reports, including financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, proactively addressing their financial needs and concerns.
- Provide insightful financial advice and strategic support to clients' management teams.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of accountants, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Stay abreast of accounting standards, regulations, and best practices relevant to the nonprofit sector.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification is a plus.
- 8+ years of experience in accounting, with nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to manage and develop accounting teams.
- Deep understanding of financial reporting, analysis, and budgeting for nonprofits.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a client-centric approach.
- Tech-savvy and adaptable, with experience using cloud-based accounting software.
Desired Skills & Attributes:
- Extensive knowledge of nonprofit financial management and compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong client relationships based on trust and exceptional service.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Xero), and other relevant tools.
