Prominent Mid sized Manhattan Law firm seeking Chief Operating Officer. Successful candidate must have 10+ years of professional, hands on operations experience at a $10mm to $100mm+ company (law firm experience is a huge plus but not required). You must have previously served in a COO or similar executive level role and have had direct reports. Absolutely no consultants or self employed individuals will be considered. As this position requires 5-day a week in office, you must reisde within reasonable commuting distance of NYC.
Position responsibilities:
1. Makes sure the business planning meetings are calendared for the executives
2. Prepares the business plan, hiring plan, policy & procedures plan, and budget as a result of the objectives discussed in the meeting
3. Prepares monthly metrics, Dashboards, reporting packages
4. Oversees the Human Resources functions
a. Employment and personnel policies
b. Job descriptions
c. Personnel files
d. Payroll
e. Benefits administration
f. Hiring, assists with interviewing and HR onboarding
g. Performance reviews
h. Terminations
i. Ensures compliance with continuing education
5. Oversees the Accounting functions
a. Billing and collections systems
b. Trust account management
c. Bookkeeping
d. Accounts Payables
e. Expense tracking and management
f. Coordination with vendors providing finance/accounting services and tax planning
6. Vendors and contractors
a. Bookkeepers
b. Technology
c. Building maintenance/cleaning service
7. Insurance
8. State Filings
9. Facilities management
a. Liaison with landlord
b. Furniture, equipment inventory
c. Records management
10. Emergency preparedness, disaster recovery
11. Supervises administrative staff: Reception, Office Manager,
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $175,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
