Upper East Side ophthalmology and surgical group is currently looking to obtain qualified Ophthalmic Technicians. This position requires dedicated individuals who enjoy working with patients and doctors in order to provide excellent medical care and exceptional service. We are a busy practice therefore, our ideal candidate will have experience working with ophthalmic diagnostic equipment, EHR systems, and managing patient volume in an environment that takes COVID-19 precautions.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Travel to Queens office required. (1-2 days per week)
- Responsible for care, maintenance, inventorying, and stocking of examination rooms as well as cleaning and maintaining all instruments
- Maintain, operate, and calibrate diagnostic equipment
- Greet patient and introduce yourself prior to eye exam in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner
- Properly operate common ophthalmic equipment including, but not limited to: AR, Pentacam, IOL Master, Fundus Photo, ECC, OCT, Keratograph, Diopsys, Visual Field, Varios
- Support efficient patient flow, perform diagnostic care
- Provide staff support in a medical capacity; prescription refills and authorizations, contact lens ordering, answering patient voicemails/emails, etc.
- Inform management of all activities, needs and problems.
- Assist as needed with administrative tasks including checking-in and checking-out patients.
- Conform to all HIPAA regulations and maintain strict patient confidentiality
- Operate basic office equipment; computers, phones, copiers, etc.*
Our Surgical Technicians provide special support to the surgeon:
- Assists during procedures: help with positioning of the patient, providing additional instruments and/or medications, setting up of supplies, instruments, and equipment for office procedures.
- Assist provider with laser procedures and minor surgery while maintaining practice standards of sterile technique and infection control.
- Provide patients with instructions based on the information provided by the provider and supply with available patient education materials.

Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
