About the role:
The National Sales Executive role is comprised of the following tasks: (Lawyer language - but it is not limited to the tasks below. This is just a current description. Tasks may change as business requirements change.)
FIREARMS KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED, PREVIOUS FIREARM SALES PREFERRED
This role is intended to prospect, cold call and plan sales trips to visit existing dealers within our network as well as expand the network. We have a robust backlog of dealers that are needing to be contacted or followed up with. The goal of these calls and trips is to sign up new dealers to expand the dealer network.
At the start of this role, you will acquire and manage your own book of dealers. As the network of dealers grows and your portfolio of dealers expands, we would bring on an Account Manager take over the maintenance of these dealers.
Strict requirements:
- You must have experience with firearms and a knowledge of firearms at an absolute minimum. We will teach you and help you expand your knowledge but you have to have a solid foundation for this role to succeed.
- You must be willing to travel. Domestic travel at the start is expected to be 25% to 40% for the first few months and then is expected to be 60% as your network grows. (more on travel at the bottom)
- Must be willing to cold call and document your progress - we will provide whatever resources are needed for you to succeed but we need a way to track metrics to see what is working and what isn't to assist the best.
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must pass a federal background check (Conducted by the ATF)
70% of your time will be direct interfacing with new and existing customers/prospects via phone, email or in-person visits.
10% of your time will be attending sport shooting events, sponsored hunts, vendor panels, industry trade shows and other marketing style events to interact with potential customers.
20% of the role includes the following administrative responsibilities:
- Logging calls and visits in the CRM
- Filling out commission sheets regularly for commission payments
- Expense reporting during travel
- Quote/Invoice creation within the Point-of-Sale software
- Coordination with warehouse staff for order fulfillment
- 4473 processing for in-person firearms transfers
- Cooperating with our Operations Manager and Operations Specialist in completion of regular ATF bound book audits
We have ample stocked safety gear and strict guidelines for all non-office work to ensure the safety of all of our employees. We do not tolerate negligence or mishandling of firearms or improper storage in the warehouse or office space.
We are a small business and everyone takes on tasks as required but this list is about as comprehensive as we can get. This is a role that will grow with the company as we expand.
We do handle a large amount of business internationally and this role may include travel internationally for 7-10 days at a time, 2-3 times a year. These trips are completely company paid (flights, hotel, food, etc). Hotel rooms are always separate and you will not share with anyone else. All sales specific travel will be domestic.
Wimberley has a culture of fun and independence. You will not be micromanaged and will be expected to handle tasks assigned or reach out for help when needed. Office staff and executive management are easily accessible at all hours. Communication, reliability and passion for growth are the three keys to success in the role.
The Pay:
We offer a competitive base salary of $65,000/year in addition to uncapped commissions. If sales targets are met, first year total compensation should be $120,000 and is expected to increase as the number of dealers continue to order and the distribution network expands. The commission is uncapped though so the right candidate can exceed these sales targets.
