TITLE: Senior Systems Engineer (Azure, Windows, VMware)
LOCATION: Portland, Oregon - Hybrid (80-90% Remote)
PAY: Target pay for this role is $120-140K but may vary based on experience

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
As a Senior Systems Engineer you will be a key member of the Technical Operations team. Reporting to the Assistant Infrastructure Manager, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, enhancement, and maintenance of IT infrastructure. Your role will ensure high availability, performance, and security for our compute, storage, and backup environments. You will proactively monitor system performance, recommend improvements, and troubleshoot issues. Additionally, you will lead and participate in projects related to system implementations, upgrades, and migrations, and mentor junior and mid-level team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for technical issues.
- Contribute to and enforce best practices for system security, performance, and reliability.
- Perform business-critical technical functions including Windows server administration, Data Center maintenance, and security compliance.
- Actively recommend, design, and implement enhancements to current tools and technologies.
- Coordinate and execute projects within the Infrastructure Systems domain.
- Mentor and coach junior and mid-level team members.
- Evaluate new technologies and make recommendations for adoption.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking an expert-level professional with hands-on experience and independent action capabilities. The ideal candidate will have:
- Expert-level knowledge of the Windows operating system, with bonus points for Linux experience.
- Strong experience with enterprise-level infrastructure technologies, including virtualization, storage, and networking.
- A proven track record of leading complex IT projects from conception to completion.
- Familiarity with tools such as Windows Server, Azure, Exchange/M365, Cohesity, PureStorage, VMware ESXi, LogicMonitor, and Ivanti Service Manager.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in systems administration roles, with at least 3 years in a senior or leadership position.
- Relevant certifications such as MCSE, VCP, CompTIA Security+ are desired.
