REGIONAL SALES MANAGER W/SW
Seeking an individual interested in a growing career in consumer products Sales. Under general supervision of the Mainstream Assoc. Director, the Regional Sales Manager W/SW is responsible for executing retail and sales plans within an assigned territory as well as fostering long-standing relationships with key retail partners. Key sales player in building our diverse products that reflects our brand in the marketplace, while adhering to Karoun’s mission and core values
The Regional Sales Manager W/SW will serve as a geographically based arm of the sales team focused on sales ventures, distribution, execution and managing West/South West accounts.
This position will represent the total Karoun Dairies portfolio through pursuing the following business strategies:
1) Ensuring customer agreements are executed and upheld
2) Driving distribution & share growth through shelving, new item, void closure and reset activity.
3) Selling against promotional and incremental opportunities to achieve revenue targets
4) Price monitoring and management.
5) Execution, monitoring, and assistance facilitating customer relationships and performance at store level.
6) Ownership and management of several indirect customer groups as the Sales Manager contact.
Territory:
Primary territory area(s) West and South West States inclusive of, but not limiting to: California, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Colorado.
Occasional support outside of this geography will be required.
Key responsibilities/accountabilities include:
- Generate consistent revenue increases by meeting/exceeding monthly and annual sales and profit budget. Achieve retail sales goals, sales revenue, execute sales, and gross profit targets.
- Continuously review and research market, account base, industry trends to identify market or customer opportunities, competitive threats, and/or opportunities for new or different ways of doing business to meet customer needs and help achieve Karoun objectives.
- Sell Karoun product portfolio to new and existing accounts - Prospect and develop profitable new customer accounts in the assigned territory. Responsible for effective territory coverage to achieve sales objectives for assigned markets or accounts base, this entails the management of current Karoun DSD accounts in CA with Mainstream chains.
- Maintain detailed knowledge of all Karoun brands and portfolio business product lines, sales procedures. Responsible for extensive knowledge of Karoun brands in order to recommend up-sell and cross-sell opportunities.
- Supports tactical execution of appropriate Sales and Merchandising plans and activities to aid the achievement of annual objectives and maintain Karoun’s merchandising standards of excellence. Maintain an effective communication process with Management team to ensure alignment and execution of Karoun’s sales initiatives and priorities.
- Manage a diverse account base of customers and meet the business channel sales goal by brand.
- Develop good rapport with customers via face-to-face meetings and maintaining contact on a regular basis. Communicate fluctuations, shortages, etc. that impact customer. Resolve customer issues such as credits, missing products, account payment status, and other issues that may hinder customer satisfaction and revenue generation.
- Make appropriate contacts/visits to establish new or deepen existing customer relationships to support achievement of short and long-term Karoun strategies and objectives.
- Maintain consistent communication across accounts or prospectives as required or circumstance dictates (new account, revival account, resolution of concern or issue; build and maintain strong relationships with accounts, businesses, reps, brokers etc.
- Partner with brokers in the assigned account base to achieve targets.
- Execute sales and shelving strategies to achieve and surpass revenue, distribution, and share targets for all assigned. Achieve promotional objectives by analyzation, trends, opportunities, tactic, price point, drive period, & selling event for the assigned brand/product categories and customers.
- Develop/recommend strategies designed to expand and enhance the overall business relations and account acquisitions of the territory and/or business activities. Develop and present strategic account plans for key customers, including planogram development, forecasting, and promotional planning.
- Be the liaison with business sales and marketing teams, internal and group level on unique brand initiatives.
- Ability to use statistical skills to identify/evaluate/communicate category performance and store results/opportunities. Proactively explore opportunities for our brand products sales, placements and promotions both instore, online, as applicable. Utilize fundamental sales principles and practices, as well as acquiring product, customer, industry, and company infrastructure knowledge applicable to improving sales, marketing, and consulting, and business interpersonal relations skills.
- Manage, submit, present, monthly sales status and forecasts to Management and Executive Leadership Team for the assigned account base and new account generation progress and activity. Develop customer lists to include current and prospective customers.
Attend events, select trade shows, account visits, sales ventures as necessary
Here's what you'll bring:
- 3-5 years of experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry and Direct Store Delivery (DSD) management, preferable in the food or dairy industry.
- Applying previous Mainstream Sales experience as a foundation skill set for driven result
- Vast knowledge and min 2 years’ experience working with Markets (i.e., Supervalu), public distributors (i.e., UNFI) and brokers in the Hispanic and specialized markets.
- Ability to develop, prepare straightforward presentation materials and participate/present the information one-on-one and in a group. (i.e., chain buyers; Mainstream or Hispanic related sales/product(s). Prepare and or assist with moderate to complex, bids and proposals in commune with Direct Report.
- Develop short- and long-term strategy to achieve sales growth.
- Build project pipeline to sustain growth targets. Proven track record of achieving assigned sales goals.
- Strong communication skills to present, persuade, and communicate with diverse businesses. Manage and build relationships with existing customers, prospective business relations and business partners (i.e., brokers).
- Ability to effectively manage and prioritize a diverse client base of accounts
- Ability to grasp detailed product knowledge, selling policies, promotions, etc.
- Understanding and ability to calculate margins/prices, understand weights/product specifications.
- Work collaboratively across the Karoun business and share best practices. Act as a major contributor/leader among peer group.
- Bachelor’s Degree, or relevant degree, from an accredited institution, preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel and basic math skills.
- Must have clean and valid driving record.
Job Qualifications will contribute the following:
- Demonstrated success in Dairy sales or Food industry Consumer packaged goods.
- Prior Industry sales/territory experience, or closely related, required with tangible, highly competitive skills, and results in the marketplace.
- Ability to travel as needed domestically, approx.. 85% of the time. Overnight as needed.
- Business acumen and Ability to coordinate across functional teams
- A strong entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to manage an independent position. Requiring the ability to work with autonomy with minimal supervision.
- Ability to be available to work during the weeks leading up to days of critical business need (key holidays and promotional time periods)
- Solid organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate/negotiate/relationship build with key contacts in assigned territory at all levels of management/associates.
- Proven success in direct selling roles and achieving sales goals – focus on Mainstream and/or Hispanic sales. Build customer relationships by providing proactive service through identifying customer needs and responding promptly.
- Business acumen: ability to understand Supply Chain, Mainstream Sales– Hispanic Sales, retail distribution across various retail channels and business models.

- Tactfulness, strong communication, and business acumen in interpersonal relations – with both internal and external partners.
Sales position does require driving to attend brand exposure opportunities, retail stores, meetings, events, shows, broker business relation matters, customer prospects, plus; acceptable driving record (as outlined in Company policy) a driving record will be requested as part of the recruitment process and/or valid driver’s license is required maintain employment.
Must currently live or relocate within primary territory to be considered.
