Strategic Importance of this Role
The Tool & Die Maker contributes to various aspects that impact overall operational efficiency, cost management, and the longevity of equipment. In this role, the Maintenance Machinist ensures the reliability and optimizes performance of machinery equipment by performing precision repairs and adjustments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities and Leadership Competencies
Tooling Projects
- Writes, edits, and optimizes CNC Programs to create customer tools.
- Utilize engineering drawing to build custom tools.
- Supports the Cutting Department in the development of complex programs.
- Fabricates machine parts as needed.
Preventative Maintenance of Tooling
- Performs inspections and preventative maintenance on all production tooling.
- Assess machine modification needs to achieve maximum efficiencies.
- Documents all tooling preventative maintenance utilizing established PM program.
- Notify production on estimated machine down times, repair completions, and periodical updates.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Highschool Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Journeyman Tool & Die Maker Certification
Job Skills And Abilities:
- Proficient in advanced machining practices and familiar with the following machines: CNC Mills, CNC Lathe, Manual Mill, Manual Lathe, Drill Press, Surface Grinder, Band Saws, Punch Press.
- Also Proficient with the following: Forklifts, Overhead Cranes, Blueprint Reading/ GD& T, various measuring equipment.
- Technologies: Write and Edit G and M code manually, Microsoft Suite, SolidWorks, DraftSight, MasterCam, and BobCAD.
Other Skills:
- Language: Ability to read and interpret complex documents such as financial statements, contracts, and procedure manuals. Possesses high level business writing skills. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of ESP.
- Quantitative: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, graphs, and proportions to practical situations.
- Critical Thinking: Able to display high level reasoning skills to solve multiple, complex situations.
