Anesthesia Technician
An anesthesia technician is responsible for assisting the Anesthesiologist before, during, and after surgical procedures. Other responsibilities include handling delicate anesthesia equipment, and ensuring correct supplies, equipment are prepared in case of an emergency. This person must use appropriate judgment in selecting supplies for each case based on size of patient and the type of anesthesia being given. Direct supervision is provided by the Anesthesiologist and OR Manager. The anesthesia tech is accountable to the OR Manager and operates within the framework of Driscoll Children’s Hospital Mission statement and Core Values.

Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.

Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.

Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.

Assists the Anesthesiologist in the Operating Room.

Prepares, monitors and maintains delicate equipment for the Anesthesia Department.

Setup of IV lines for anesthesiologist needs using aseptic technique.

Stocks the anesthesia carts with medications and supplies.

Maintains off site equipment and carts ensuring it is in ready status at all times.

Assists in providing safe transportation of patient.

Orders and maintains stock levels of supplies and agents for the Anesthesia Department.

Promotes effective communication.

Participates in departmental and hospital PI, CQI

Attends departmental and hospital meetings as required.

Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
-
Six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations.

Certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation techniques
